1. General Info.

The Model 336 Indicators represent the state-of-the-art in applying modern electronic and display technology to aircraft engine indication. The Model 336 Electronic Aircraft Indicator's purpose is to indicate electrical and powerplant related information to the pilot. This is accomplished with a display design that allows the placement of colored "Arcs" on the display adjacent to the graph, similar to the current mechanical indicators. Careful attention to the FARs, Advisory Circulars, TSOs and other FAA policy materials have allowed Horizon to create an indicator that is truly pilot-friendly as well as fully Part-23 certifiable (STCs forthcoming)! The Model 336's display provides full direct-daylight visibility, large clearly defined numerals, and high resolution graphic display.

A front-lighting system is incorporated that fully illuminates the faceplate. This provides the pilot with the ability to see operating ranges, indicator identification, and other important markings without the need for supplemental lighting systems, such as post lights. This feature is not commonly found on most electronic indicators. The front lighting system is fully dimmable and, when turned on, causes the graphic and numeric displays to dim for night visibility.

2. External Interfaces

Relay Contacts:
A single-pole, normally open relay output is provided that can be used to operate a remote annunciator panel, or to operate other equipment based upon the numeric display (such as a manifold pressure-landing gear interlock).

Communications:
Full duplex RS-232 communications capability is available. This feature is used at the factory to personalize the indicator, and used in the field for data-logging and to provide additional features not available in a singe indicator (future products).

Battery Backup Capability:
These indicators will be able to operate from a backup battery, In the event at the main power system cannot supply enough power to the indicators, the pilot may throw a switch to enable the backup system and continue the flight.

3. Mechanical

Bezels:
The small size of the Model 336 Electronic Aircraft Indicators allows mounting in either the MS33639 2" size holes or in the MS33638 2-1/4" size holes. The indicator is less that 4.1" deep and mounts with four screws to the instrument panel. The harness connects to the rear of the indicator with a standard "D" type connector. Typical weight (without internal sensors and wiring harness) is less that 6oz. The connector will add less that 2 inches to the indicator depth, for an overall depth of less than 6 inches.

Wiring Harnesses:
All Horizon indicators are shipped with wiring harnesses pre-assembled at the connector end. These harnesses use quality high temperature Tefzel type wire for additional protection.

Environmental:
The Model 336 Indicators are designed to fully meet the FAA requirements for environmental survivability, including extended temperature operation, vibration, and EMI/RFI susceptibility and emissions.

4. Misc. Features

Timing Features:
Each indicator contains a customizable timer. This timer can be customized to record either aircraft time (Time in Service), Powerplant time, or block time (all recorded in 1/10 hours). It can also be configured as an accessory timer that operates in minutes and seconds (handy for IFR operations). An external switch recalls the times to the display. This timer can either run continuously or be triggered from the numeric display or from an external switch (ie. squat switch).

Multiple indicator installations may be used to perform different time-keeping functions. For instance, the RPM indicator can be used to record powerplant time, the MAP indicator can be used to record time-in-service, and a volt-meter may record block time.

Internal Memory:
An internal Non-Volatile electronic memory is used to store configuration, calibration, and operating information. this memory does not require any internal batteries, or connection to an aircraft power source, of it to maintain the information stored within it.
